WHAT are your plans for this half term?

How about going into the back of a wardrobe with the Bishop of Dorchester and travelling into an alternate dimension?

Dorchester Abbey near Wallingford is preparing to lay on a host of half term activities next month all themed around Narnia – the parallel universe created by Oxford author CS Lewis and made famous in his book The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

Visitors will be able to "ride the witch's sleigh", "visit Mr Tumnus's home" and become one of the kings or queens of Cair Paravel.

Bishop Colin Fletcher leant a hand in starting the preparations this week by helping some local primary school children make a model of Aslan the Lion.

Megan Sadler, 11, said: "It's really fun and its very different from other things we normally do."

During half term, October 22 to November 22, there will also be daily drawing and painting workshops at the Abbey from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

There will also be a free Tuesday drop-in workshops in the run-up to half term to create magic snowflakes on October 4 and 11.
