HUNDREDS of walkers from Wallingford put their best foot forward in the fight against cancer in Oxfordshire.
About 250 people turned out last Sunday for Wallingford’s first Walk Against Cancer, which was held at Wallingford School and Castle Meadows.
Organiser Theresa Jordan said: “Although numbers were a bit low, everyone who came along thoroughly enjoyed it and got into the spirit of things.
“We had a team from (Wallingford department store) Pettits who came in their pyjamas, and one group walked ten miles. There were also two people in wheelchairs.
“We have decided to do it again next year because of the enthusiasm of everyone who took part this year.”
Mrs Jordan said £1,300 had been raised, although donations were still coming in.
Proceeds from the walk, which was started by local MP Ed Vaizey, will go to the Churchill Hospital, Oxford.
