Why don't they just go to Carfax Taxi Rank any Friday or Saturday night. They will be handing out fines like confetti. There is a fortune to be made there.

The way I read the report she didn't have to pay anyway - just stay at Court for the afternoon. £115 for an afternoon - not bad if you can get it!

I feel sorry for the Police. They have to deal with these wasters spending hours and hours compiling evidence etc only for these idiots at magistrates court to hand out such pathetic punishments.

From where I'm sitting it appears that crime does pay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The money goes into a pot, which is used to give actual victims support etc... I think.

I am not sure either.

Is it the Police or the courts?

If our very knowledgable Lord Palmerston is about(he's good at these sort of questions Andy)-can you help out on this please sir?

It goes to The Government to (supposedly) provide a constant stream of money to the victims of crime and witnesses. But in reality it could be paying for MPs expenses or the war in Afghanistan.

P.S. Mr Broon also wants to extend it to all motoring and parking offences, evidently overstaying your parking on St Giles by 15 minutes is NOT a victimless crime and as such it will cost you an extra £15 on top of the fine. Now can anybody defend the statement "this is not a stealth tax"

Because it's a fine. If you don't want to pay, leave the car park on time. Stealth taxes are unavoidable, fines are.

sparky

He will have been charged costs you cannot be fined without them. Currently the standard is £85 plus the £15 surcharge to make the £100

Costs are not normally disclosed though but he will have had them

I shall try to make sure that I go to Oxford magistrates if I get nicked. They are much more lenient than Didcot. Six months, suspended, for head butting and breaking someone's nose is just not acceptable.

Big al. We pay the £60 fine for parking. But what is the £15 victims surcharge for. Firstly there is no victim in overstaying your parking, secondly it is a civil, NOT a criminal offence. You want to stay off the black stuff me old subla.
