An Oxfordshire war hero met Prince Harry at a service to honour Britain’s military and civilian heroes on Monday.

George Cross recipient Peter Norton, from Shrivenham, was credited with saving seven lives by instructing troops while he lay wounded from a bomb blast in Iraq in 2005.

The former army bomb disposal officer lost a leg in the blast, and later lost part of an arm.

The 51-year-old said the Prince, whom he met at St James’ Palace, encouraged him to take part in the next Invictus Games for wounded servicemen.
