A woman in her 50s was flown to hospital by air ambulance after being found injured near train tracks.

Ambulance crews and the air ambulance were called to Denchworth Road at about 12.45pm yesterday. Spokeswoman Catherine Morrow said she was flown to the John Radcliffe Hospital with a shoulder injury and possible non-life-threatening injuries to her neck and back.

British Transport Police spokesman Brian Price said: “We were called to reports of a person lying at the side of the railway line. Medics safely removed her.”

BT Police said it was unsure how she got injured or came to be near the track.

There were delays of up to an hour on trains between Didcot and Swindon until 5pm.
