FIVE men have been sentenced after committing poaching offences in Wantage.
The men, all from Pontypool, Gwent, were arrested on January 9 after a report of people trespassing on Cobweb Farm in West Hanney.
They all admitted one charge of daytime trespass in pursuit of game at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on May 5 and were sentenced the same day.
Danny Johnson, 58, of Cwmynyscoy Road, was fined £150 and ordered to pay £300 compensation and £85 costs.
Jason Jones, 24, of Folly View Lane, was fined £150 and ordered to pay £500 compensation, a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
William Johnson, 23, of Folly View Lane, Tom Jones, 27, of Upper Race and Robert Smith, 19, of Lower Race, were each fined £150 and ordered to pay a £20 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
The court ordered for a Subaru vehicle, which was used in the crime, to be seized.
