THE public examination of plans to build 20,560 new homes in the Vale of White Horse will begin on Tuesday, September 22, it has been announced.

Government planning inspector Malcolm Rivett will oversee an in-depth examination of the Vale district council’s Local Plan for development.

The public is welcome to attend the daily sessions, beginning at 10am, at The Beacon in Wantage.

The council’s plan proposes sites to build all new estates of 200 homes or more around Abingdon, Wantage and Faringdon. It includes the 2,500-home Grove Airfield estate and 1,500-home Crab Hill estate at Wantage which already planning permission from the council.

Councillors hope that if it is approved by the inspector, the plan will give them control over where homes are built in the district.
