PLAYFUL primary school children ditched their computers to play some magical, magnetic and mysterious board games in Wantage.

Youngsters from across town joined the pop-up board games café at the Vale and Downland Museum on Saturday morning.

Players were invited to bring their own favourite game or try a new one from the Church Street museum’s collection.

Bruce Webb, 10, who goes to Wantage CofE School, went along with his mum Nicola Eldridge and tried his hand at building with glow-in-the-dark magnets.

He said: “You basically connect the magnets and try to build the best model you can, so we were building houses.

“It was a good change from computer games because you could play with other people. I would definitely go again.”

There were also magical card games and fascinating foreign offerings as well as more traditional entertainment.

The event was run in conjunction with Wantage Pixel Club and Toy Planet Collectors.
