A CARAVAN which burnt to a cinder nearly took two nearby cars with it, firefighters have said.

Crews from as far as Wantage and Bampton raced to put out the burning vehicle in Faringdon late on Monday night.

Station manager Paul Webster said: “Fortunately, no one was hurt on this occasion, the caravan was totally destroyed before the arrival of crews from Faringdon, who arrived within 10 minutes of the 999 call.

"Caravans have limited escape options and as they are made of lightweight and highly combustible fittings, a fire can spread very quickly.

"The intensity of the fire also severely damaged two cars adjacent to the fire. "Thames Valley Police along with fire investigation officers are working together to determine the cause of the fire."
