CELEBRITY chef Rick Stein is to take part in an Oxford fun run to raise funds for dyslexia research.

The TV chef will take part in the run at University Parks on Saturday, May 19, for the Dyslexia Research Trust (DRT).

The event will feature a 5km and one-mile run as well as music, stalls and refreshments.

Mr Stein, who will also be running a fish taco bar on the day, said: “I’m very much looking forward to the fun run as I strongly support what the Dyslexia Research Trust does.”

Mr Stein’s brother, John, an emeritus professor of physiology at Oxford University, urged residents to take part.

They can “enjoy themselves in beautiful surroundings whilst at the same time contributing to the DRT’s ability to continue to help children to lead successful lives”.

The clinical neurologist, a co-founder of the trust, said: “For many years the Dyslexia Research Trust has provided free dyslexia assessments and has helped more than 10,000 children to overcome their reading problems and fulfil their true potential.”

Activities will include face painting, a bouncy castle, arts and crafts and a barbecue.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm. Enter at dyslexic.org.uk or call 01865 282552.
