LAST weekend saw the return of the annual 1940s revival festival at the Cholsey and Wallingford Railway.

Naturally this was an event that was simply perfect for Sew Very Vintage!

With our new range of Autumn/ Winter coats, dresses and knitwear having a very forties flavour, it was the perfect event to showcase our latest line of ladies' fashion pieces.

Several people travelled from afar to enjoy the event, whilst locals headed over – some catching it by chance whilst out for a walk and therefore got lots more than they bargained for.

As well as event-goers expressing their enjoyment of watching our fashion show on Sunday, they loved the 40s music provided by specialist DJ Dave Dawes, who was also an excellent compere for our fashion show, adding humour to the event.

Our new 'Bettie' swing dress (modelled by yours truly in the show) proved to be the bestseller at the event, but fear not replacement sizes can be ordered, so please pop in to Sew Very Vintage if you wish to make one of those beauties yours.

Another bestseller was our high-waisted 40s-style trousers which, due to the cut, are flattering and feminine while still being a perfectly practical piece for anyone’s wardrobe.

Other highlights of the event included delicious homemade cakes and scones served on vintage china.

These were provided by pop-up vintage tearoom Polka Dots n Teapots, run by local entrepreneurs Denise Rogers and Emma Dolton.

The Oxfordshire Home Guard put on an excellent display, with several other visitors turning out in uniform or period dress to mark the occasion.

The railway’s own museum was also open, giving insight into its rich history.

Oliver White, organiser of the event at the railway, was thrilled that train ticket sales had doubled thanks to the event and hopes that renewed interest in the heritage railway will continue.

Next year, we hope to spread the event into the town centre.

Please contact Cholsey and Wallingford Railway if you are interested in helping with this in anyway.
