Sir, This time last year we were being told that there would have to be a hosepipe ban but since last Wednesday, January 16, mains water has been gushing from both sides of our road.
A neighbour and I trapped the flow and found it was leaking at the rate of approx 50 litres a minute. So we think that 432,000 litres approximately have been lost since then. With ever-increasing water rates and the threat of hundreds of acres of farmland being used for reservoirs, is this situation acceptable? Never mind, we will keep paying our water bills — good citizens that we are.
