Sir, May I, through your newspaper, ask the following question of our local postmaster here in Wallingford?

Why is it that my wife and I watch a postman or postwoman deliver mail to houses in Greenfield Crescent between 10am and 10.30am daily, and yet, just 20 to 30 yards away, in Fir Tree Avenue, we have to wait until after 3pm for our delivery?

I am sure that there is a somewhat simple answer but for the life of me I cannot think of one!

On a separate, yet equally vexing, subject, can anyone explain why it has become fashionable for motor vehicles to be parked partially on pavements, causing wheelchair users, pram pushers and even pedestrians to make a detour out into the road avoiding any traffic that may be on the road? Equally the habit of parking covering double yellow lines, cycles lanes and half the pavement has become most predominant, especially in the town centre.

Promises have been made in the past to purge the town of such irresponsible behaviour but it still appears that such official restrictions are in fact an open invitation to free parking!
