More control

2:01pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, I was interested to read councillor Zoe Patrick’s reply to my letters in the Herald and I am pleased to note that she works tirelessly, together with her colleague, councillor Jenny Hannaby, on behalf of the communities in Grove and Wantage.

Rose-tinted?

2:00pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, Having Neil Shaw join Mrs Culley in saying how they enjoy my letters did wonders for my ego and also rekindled memories of the days when Wantage Rural District Council met on the first Tuesday of the month at its offices in Belmont where the council chamber doubled as the venue for register office weddings.

House arrest

1:59pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, The county council is once again planning to put hundreds of people in South Oxfordshire under house arrest for a whole day.

No shelter

1:58pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, So the precinct in Abingdon has at last been rebuilt. It now looks like any other pedestrianised street in the country, though not as wide. But not what shoppers wanted.

Cinema noise

1:57pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, I was interested to see the recent letter concerning sound levels at Didcot Cineworld.

Surprised

1:56pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, You reported (Herald, January 23) that Nicola Blackwood MP is urging the Transport Minister to tackle congestion problems on the A34. I agree that there are congestion problems on the A34 but for many north Abingdon residents the main problem with the A34 is not congestion but their inability to have full access to it at the Lodge Hill junction. I am surprised that the MP does not include this in her list of problems relating to the A34. Councillor Helen Pighills Oxford Road Abingdon

Talk about it

1:55pm Sunday 10th February 2013

Sir, I was very disappointed to read your front-page story in the Wallingford Herald two weeks ago regarding the proposed redevelopment of the former Habitat warehouse site. The criticism of the town council’s decision by the residents of Radnor Road is somewhat unjust.

Tesco rumour

11:11am Wednesday 11th July 2012

Sir, Shirley Wayne rightly complains last week about the over-development of Wantage and the loss of green spaces in the town.

Standard of care

11:12am Wednesday 11th July 2012

Sir, Having recently spent several days in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, recovering from a bout of pneumonia, I have had time to reflect on the standard of care I received from all the staff I encountered from emergency admission to discharge.

Credit to school

11:13am Wednesday 11th July 2012

Sir, What a truly inspirational day I had at John Mason School in Abingdon meeting the young people and teachers involved in Sky Sports Living for Sport.
