SIR, In September, my mother was taken via ambulance to the emergency multi-disciplinary unit based at Abingdon Community Hospital, acutely ill.
What a fantastic unit with amazing caring staff.
My mother had all the tests imaginable, which then enabled the doctors to make an accurate diagnosis.
My mother was then transferred to Ward Two where she was admitted. For ten days she had exemplary care.
The support and kindness given was wonderful. My mother was discharged from Ward Two to her home with a brilliant package of care. The social worker, OT and physios were dedicated to make sure that the discharge went without a hitch. Consequently, she is doing well.
The people of Abingdon should be so thankful to have such a great hospital on their doorstep with ‘great’ caring professionals, ranging from doctors, nurses, HCAs, physios, OTs, radiographers, porters and domestics.
Their dedication in sometimes difficult circumstances is superb.
