Sir, I was interested in your front page story about the proposed Valley Park development of 2,550 homes between Didcot and the A34.

I appreciate that the Government thinks Didcot and its surroundings are a prime hi-tech growth area but I am worried that the necessary infrastructure is not in place and may be difficult to achieve.

In particular, the problems with foul drainage associated with Great Western Park show just how difficult it can be to deal with sewage, however confident the experts may be at the planning stage. As regards the current problems, which resulted in another sewage inundation just over a week ago, it is a relief to know that the parties involved are talking to each other.

However, until a long-term solution has been shown to work it would not be sensible to plan another major housing development in the Didcot area. Councillor Nick Hards
