Sir, On June 21, they turned out in their thousands for the Wallingford Carnival, another great day for the town. For 51 years, Wallingford has been putting on the carnival on the third Saturday of June, which usually ends with live music on the Kinecroft. The bucket collection goes to local organisations.
However, the local rugby club and one of the pubs decided to take advantage of the huge crowds which the carnival draws in. They put on their own musical events at the same time as the carnival one, causing the audience to be shared. Shame on you both for lining your own pockets instead of supporting the carnival. Any decent Wallingfordian would support the carnival, not challenge it.
