Sir, Like most of the “technical” mandates which emerge from our EU masters, the latest one regarding the power consumption of domestic appliances follows the usual pattern of being devoid of technical accuracy.

When I use my hairdryer to evaporate so many grammes of water this process is going to require so much energy regardless of the time taken, hence the less powerful dryer will be running for longer and use the same kilowatt hours as the more powerful one.

The same conditions will apply to numerous electrical appliances whether they be toasters, vacuum cleaners or leaf blowers.

This is not rocket science, just simple GCSE-level knowledge which the overpaid eurocrats in Brussels fail to understand.
