Sir, Until recently, we are told, money has not been available to repair potholes etc in our roads. Is that also the case with road signs? All around our area there are many examples of speed limits, direction indicators and other signs which cannot be read because they are obscured by branches of trees and overgrown hedges. In many cases these have not been trimmed for years.
However, it is not only our own county authorities who are at fault. It is a national problem. I have recently returned from a visit to the south coast. Many times I had to slow down almost to a halt, and so annoy other traffic, while drawing level with a direction sign in order to read it and find my way.
Surely these obscured signs are just as dangerous, and likely to cause accidents, as potholes, and ought to receive attention.
