Sir, I write in response to the ‘Fatality likely’ letter in the Herald two weeks ago. While I agree with the comments raised, I am a driver who has been forced to use these country lanes to travel to and from work.
I have to work for necessity, not for pleasure. I cannot afford the extra petrol to use the official diversion.
The lanes around Denchworth and Goosey will become even more dangerous, not only to pedestrians, but cyclists and motorists, as the days grow shorter and the weather gets worse. Oxfordshire County Council needs to address this now.
A realistic diversion, possibly with a one-way system needs to be implemented immediately — with reduced speed restrictions enforced.
