Sir, Some fortunate surviving veterans from countries involved in the D-Day ceremonies on June 6 this year were selected then to be presented with the Legion d’Honneur by France.
But there has not been much, if any, publicity given to the many applications made through our Ministry of Defence website for the same award arriving by post to other eligible survivors. Have these been forgotten by France or by someone within our own Government?
You would think that our PM would welcome the sight of these on display in Whitehall on Remembrance Sunday and at other parades then, especially Bomber Command veterans?
Perhaps, he thinks that if that happens his paltry award of a clasp instead of the full BC campaign medal will be seen my most to have been a genuine mistake ?
