Sir, I had a most enjoyable visit to East Hagbourne horticultural show in October when I won a bottle of wine in a raffle.
Coming from outside the village, I thought if I was lucky enough to win, the prize would be passed to someone else.
However, I was pleasantly surprised to be phoned by a lady organiser telling me it was mine. As I rarely go to the village, she said she would leave it with the postmaster (if that is still the term) at the Post Office for collection. Time went on and it wasn’t until recently that I managed to get a friend to pick it up I would like to thank them both for their honesty and patience. East Hagbourne, which I knew well 40 years ago, is still such a delightful village I shall revisit it again soon.
