Sir, I was delighted to read of the obvious pride and dedication shown by Trevor Davies in seeking to preserve his town green in Didcot. More and more of our town centre green spaces need to be protected.
The unfortunate reality is that Mr Davies and his like across the region would not need spend their time fighting for such common sense ideas had this last Government not turned every scrap of grass over to a developers’ free-for-all.
The reduction of the National Planning Policy Framework to a mere 15 pages of “guidance” has been a travesty. This, on top of the appalling Strategic Housing Market Assessment, means that the most basic protections for our invaluable green spaces have been abolished and far too much time and effort is now needed to protect these essential community assets.
