Sir, Nicola Blackwood, in her recently distributed ‘Election Report’, reminds us that one of our political leaders failed to mention an important topic in his keynote speech, but she has now put her foot into exactly the same void.
In her carefully-crafted report, you will search in vain for any mention of health or the NHS. We can only assume that these are not important to her or her party. If, like me, you are an OAP and so most likely to vote, you will have been given favourable treatment by Tory policies in the hope of them buying your vote, but I warn you, you had better not fall ill in your old age as the NHS crumbles.
At the last election, she said she would prioritise the needs of local businesses if she was returned as our MP. Well, she had better get her skates on because after five years in office she finds herself still having to call “for sensible rents for our shops” and for a “national review of business rates” as we wait for empty retail units in Abingdon town centre to be filled.
