Sir, Oh, no, not again! Surely the Vale district council has learned not to risk closing Abingdon’s Abbey Meadows swimming pool!

The Conservatives almost closed the pool in 1980 but didn’t. The Lib Dems closed it in 2005 but reopened it. Now Conservatives again risk closure and another campaign.
Score: Pool campaigns 2, District council 0.
Predictions for the third campaign? Why not look at Abingdon Blog to get the flavour? http://www.abingdonblog.co.uk
To save the pool, we urge everyone to choose scenario A in the consultation document, available online at https://consult.southandvale.gov.uk/file/3321972 , and on paper from Mostly Books or Added Ingredients or the council offices. You can respond to the consultation online at http://tinyurl.com/AbbeyMeadow .
The Friends of Abbey Meadow Outdoor Pool (www.abingdonoutdoorpool.org.uk) wish to hear from whoever wants to help save the pool. Contact our website or email us at abingdonoutdoorpool@gmail.com
We view the consultation as a positive opportunity to reject the idea of closure and demonstrate that the much-loved Abbey Meadow s pool is an integral part of Abingdon.
If you vote for scenario A , we offer to raise money in partnership with the council, the public and the new operators, GLL (or Better.org), so everyone’s hopes for Abbey Meadows can be realised over the medium term.
See you in the pool this year. It certainly is not closing yet. We hope it never will.
Dr Peter Harbour, South Avenue, Abingdon
