Sir, There is a solution to the huge controversy over gravel extraction.

London had no gravel and is supplied from a number of places by rail.

Oxfordshire is very well served by railways and could be supplied in this way. The problem is that it will cost more than local extraction but local extraction will ruin some areas permanently.

Rail haulage is becoming cheaper. The county council should investigate this instead of accepting that local extraction is the answer.

The county council exists to serve the residents, not the developers.
