Sir, We were swept off our feet by the outstanding performances of the cast in The Sound of Music.

Abingdon Operatic Society excelled itself in every way. Kate Brock, as Maria, proved to be a superb actress and singer and kept us on the edge of our seats. The children were delightful and showed their talents in bringing extra to their characters.

Ann Turton was a perfect Mother Abbess and brought the performance to a resounding end, singing Climb Every Mountain. Sister Berthe (Lorna Stevenson-Walker) was so funny.

All nuns sang beautifully. Rob Bertwistle, as Max Detweiler, gave an outstanding performance as usual, as did Duncan Blagrove as Captain Von Trap.

The performance was fast moving, scenery great, singing angelic, costumes perfect.

Well done, you excelled yourselves. We were entranced! You rivalled the West End production!
