Sir, I was very sorry to read the story about the Red Cross’s decision concerning their Wantage shop (Herald, May 6), in particular its effect on the fundraising Tuesday coffee morning.
I can understand why the members are upset and disappointed.
I see from the article that the Red Cross spokeswoman hopes they will find another local venue.
I might have good news for them.
There is a coffee shop in the area that would be very happy to host them.
It’s Cornerstone in the Grovelands shopping precinct in Grove. It’s also run by a charity. It has good parking and disabled access.
There’s always a welcome there and never any pressure to buy more drinks or hurry on.
I write as a disabled punter and a trustee.
I talked to the manager, Sarah, who has told me she would be very happy to book a table for them. They’d receive a warm welcome.
