Sir, I was thrilled to read Derek and Judy Henman’s letter (Herald, May 6) praising Abingdon Operatic Society’s production of The Sound of Music. It was indeed a triumph!
I have been an avid fan of musical theatre for over 60 years, and have travelled countrywide to enjoy countless productions, both professional and amateur. Abingdon Operatic Society presented the best amateur production of a musical I have ever seen.
What a fantastic team effort! All performers were excellent. Special praise must go to the husband and wife powerhouse, John and Katie Nye (musical director and director).
It was clear that their inspiration, imagination and sheer hard work shaped this exceptional production to a West End standard.
