Sir, Regarding the letter from Simon Newton, of Wallingford (May 20).

I felt I should write in defence of A Hawtin. Mr Hawtin is not complaining about aircraft generally. He is complaining about one particular pilot, who considers it all right to do the same low-flying stunts in an already noisy aircraft and make it extra noisy by banking and climbing, and to do this every quarter of an hour or so over for hours at a time over the built-up area of Abingdon.

One solution to the problem might be to get the pilot to do his tricks over Mr Newton’s house if he thinks “it’s not that bad”. I have lived in Abingdon for 43 years and I have not been aware of aircraft noise until this pilot came on the scene.

Keep up the pressure, Mr Hawtin you have already made a difference.
