Sir – At our very well-run Oakley Wood Recycling Centre this morning, set to one side, were a number of potentially saleable items, ie children’s cycles, elderly chest of drawers, old bench etc etc I can’t help wondering why each centre couldn’t have a shop/stall to recycle such items on to members of the public in exchange for a donation.
A fine example of this can be found in Stratford-upon-Avon; I believe their proceeds go to a local charity. If we in Oxfordshire cannot afford to donate to charity maybe the income could help keep all centres open and alleviate the inevitable fly-tipping that will occur if any of the centres are closed.
