Sir, It was fascinating to see the photo in the Herald (July 29) marking the move to our previous premises in Mill Street in 1984.

We later became known as The Independent Advice Centre and moved to 16 Market Place in 1995.

Two years ago, we were fortunate to be able to expand, taking over the top floor as well as the ground floor of the building.

We continue to provide an advice service, community transport and volunteer good neighbour scheme to residents of the Vale of White Horse district. However, we are now facing a critical shortage of volunteer drivers.

I would like to appeal to any of your readers with a little time to spare to contact the IAC to find out more about our friendly team.

Volunteer driving is very flexible – drivers give as little or as much time as they wish, can choose types of drives or destinations if preferred and mileage is reimbursed.

Volunteer driving is also very rewarding, helping those who would otherwise not get to hospital or medical appointments or even to the shops for food!

Our clients really do need you – so I would urge anyone with some time and a car to call Wendy or Lisa on 01235 765348.
