Sir – I am a junior doctor within the NHS and the Government is threatening to impose a contract upon junior doctors that is unsafe for both patients and doctors.

The contract removes vital hours safeguards which protect patients from dangerously tired doctors, and also threatens to decimate an already brittle recruitment and retention situation leaving rotas dangerously short-staffed.

I have written to my local MP, Nicola Blackwood, to raise these concerns. Sadly, not only did the response take over a month, but the response was a generic one, identical to that received by several other of my medical colleagues, and it completely failed to address the specific concerns I had raised.

I am happy to meet Ms Blackwood to address her misconceptions about the Government’s regressive contract imposition.
