Sir – Hats off to Didcot Town for giving such a sterling performance against League Two club Exeter City in the FA Cup.

It wasn’t until the second half that the experience of the professional club began to make an impact. You did the town proud and deserved the applause of the Exeter players at the end of the match.

It was a wonderful day and a great pleasure to see more than 2,700 spectators enjoy themselves.

The organisation before, during and after the match was first class and a great credit to the club, players, officials and volunteers. I hope Didcot Town continues to make progress during the season and will make prudent use of the windfall of more than £100,000 generated by the cup run for future generations of footballers.

I have added Didcot Town to the list of teams I support – Long Wittenham in the North Berks League and Premier League side Leicester City. I have been a lifelong supporter of Leicester. Are there any other Foxes supporters lurking in Oxfordshire? If so I would like to hear from them.
