Helpful MP

Sir, As expected, different views are being expressed in your newspaper regarding Ed Vaizey’s purchase of antique furniture, courtesy of we, the taxpayers — criticisms, of course, which are justified, but so far I have yet to read of the many ways Ed Vaizey has shown his true colours as a local MP in different areas of his constituency.

On a personal note, I am grateful for the help of Mr Vaizey a couple of years ago when I requested his help with a problem I was having with the pension service. Mr Vaizey pulled out all the stops in order to help me, even involving the now-defunct Work and Pensions secretary, James Purnell.

Because I believe in speaking as I find, I would have no problem in voting for Mr Vaizey again and although I shall never get to sit on his antique sofa, he is quite welcome to come and sit on my Argos sofa and have a cup of tea with me any time!

Gladys Sadler (Mrs) Honey Lane Cholsey
