LIAM Davis admitted it was hard going to get through 90 minutes after several months out injured, but the full back was pleased to pass the test, writes DAVID PRITCHARD.

The 25-year-old only returned to the squad last week after recovering from a serious groin injury.

But he was handed a place in the starting line-up on Saturday and helped keep a clean sheet in the draw with Torquay United.

Davis was thrilled to be back in a yellow shirt, although admitted it was a tiring afternoon.

He said: “It was very tough. I’ve been doing a few running sessions, but I haven’t really been back training very long, so the gaffer showed faith by throwing me in and I’m grateful for that. “When they brought on a quick winger I thought ‘here we go’, but I think I dealt with it quite well.

“I’ve been injured for a long time, but you could see spells of what I used to do. “There’s a bit more fitness and strength to come, along with getting my confidence back on the ball.”

Alongside Davis in the back four was Jake Wright, who had mixed feelings about the result.

He said: “It’s a little bit frustrating and reminds me of games we’ve had at times over the last couple of seasons, when we played really well at home and created a lot of chances, but not won.

“We have to take the positives out of it, I think the lads played some really good football at times and we defended really well.

“It was pleasing we kept going and we weren’t just hoofing it forward in the last five minutes, unfortunately it just didn’t go in.

“We’re disappointed with one point from the last two games, it’s not good enough, but as long as we keep playing like that we’ll be alright.”
