Dave Lynn is one of several players to be selected in a first team squad this season
CHRIS Allen is keen to keep his youth team players’ feet on the ground after reeling off their 11th successive win on Wednesday.
The U’s Under 18s beat Plymouth Under 18s 3-2 in the FA Youth Cup to set up a third round tie at home to Barnsley next month.
Striker James Roberts, who scored the winner in midweek, has grabbed the attention, but others, including Dave Lynn and Sam Long, have also made the first-team squad this season.
Allen, the youth team boss, is delighted with their form, but wants to make sure the youngsters continue develop.
He said: “We’re hoping it keeps going, but they have to keep doing the right things and keep learning – that’s the key for them – but if you can win a few games along the way, then brilliant.
“For me the Barnsley tie will be just another game even though it’s the third round and it’s exciting, hopefully we can go and win that one as well.”
