Oxford United sign Josh Parker

OXFORD United have signed striker Josh Parker on non-contract terms.

With four matches in 11 days over the festive period, boss Chris Wilder moved to strengthen his front line with Jon-Paul Pittman and Deane Smalley out injured.

James Constable and Tom Craddock are the only experienced strikers available, with youngster Tyrone Marsh as back-up.

Antiguan international Parker started his career at QPR, making five senior appearances before moving to League One side Oldham, where he featured 15 times.

He goes straight into the squad to face Fleetwood tomorrow.

“Josh has done well in training and now he gets a chance to show us what he can do over a slightly longer period,” said Wilder. “Josh is hungry to come in and impress.”

Another potenally poor signing from Wilder. Can't judge to much till we see him play, but the stats don't look good and it has that feeling of inevitability about it.
100% agree with previous comments, why not give marsh a run out? He must be one frustrated lad.

We need to score GOALS!! Urgently now! Otherwise we will be going down the league table rather than up it!

Scoring one goal and hoping to win a game does not cut it - or even more likely ending up with a draw or hanging on and guess what the opposition nicks one or two in the last 30 mins! So just what has Tyrone Marsh got to do to prove what he can do?

Hope Josh Parker does the business and does not become another Park bench. We have enough of those in the forward line already! We need some one quick and lively who know where the goal is and can cause the opposition havoc. Plus the team needs make better decisions in feeding better balls to strikers.

Spot on RocketMan. The strikers need a coach to tell them how to cross, Potter, Pittman, Batt, Davis and Chapman to mention a few are good players who can't play a telling final ball, this has been gong on for years. CW does nothing about it except complain about strikers making wrong choices, this goes all the way back to Yemi, it's not new. Come on Chris, coach them.
