LONDON Welsh head coach Lyn Jones urged his players not to dwell on their defeat to Wasps when they host champions Harlequins tomorrow (3).
The Exiles let slip a 12-6 half-time lead to lose 34-15 against Wasps last week, with Jones admitting his players were very disappointed.
But he stressed: “Throughout the year, you are going to get ups and lows.
“This was a low for us, but I don’t want to look too far into it.
“There was lots of good in our game against Wasps.
“Turning around at 12-6 up, we were quite buoyant.”
Welsh’s last outing against Harlequins ended in a 40-3 defeat at the start of the season, with George Robson and Ugo Monye grabbing two tries apiece.
The scoreline had fans fearing the worst for the upcoming campaign.
But that was followed by their first win – a 25-24 success over Exeter Chiefs – a week later and Welsh have been competitive ever since. Jones said: “We’ve taken on board a lot of lessons from our first game against Harlequins.
“We have progressed and developed as a side and have made great improvements in our discipline and our kicking game.
“We are aware they are a very confident side and are top of the league at the moment.
“We are disappointed after last week and are keen to make amends.”
After last week’s record crowd of 10,045, Welsh expect a little more than 5,000 fans this time.
