Rising star Sebastian Rey earned his first ATP World Tour point.

Playing in the ITF USA F29 Futures event at Pensacola in Florida, the 18-year-old, from Wantage, came through four qualifying rounds to earn his place in the last-32 main draw.

And there he defeated USA’s Connor Farren, world-ranked 907, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to earn his first ATP point.

He then faced No 1 seed Hans Podlipnik-Castillo, from Chile, the world No 296, in the last 16 where his run came to an end with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat.

In qualifying, Rey opened up by defeating Sweden’s Oscar Forsell 6-2, 6-3.

He then overcame USA’s Thomas Mayronne 7-5, 6-4, before beating New Zealand’s Chester Espie 6-3, 6-2.

And he secured his place in the main draw by brushing aside Japan’s Hidetoshi Owada 6-2, 6-1.
