London Welsh’s back-to-back bonus point wins over Edinburgh Academical have left head coach Justin Burnell with a selection dilemma ahead of the Exiles’ return to Championship action against London Scottish next Saturday at the Kassam Stadium (5pm).

“The 22 players we used today were fantastic – some of the best performance I’ve seen,” said Burnell.

“It was a job well done by the whole squad and confirmation of how strong our strength in depth is.

“The conditions were absolutely atrocious and it was definitely a game of two halves.

“First half we really looked after the ball, sometimes going through 25 to 30 phases. Second half we used the elements as best we could.

“The most pleasing factor is that boys have come in and put their hand up – that was really pleasing to see.

“We’ve been able to give some players two games on the bounce and confirm to ourselves how good some of these players are.

“We have to have the confidence to give some of these boys more opportunities, because it’s a long season and there’s still of a lot of rugby to be played.

“We’re now really excited about next Saturday and the visit of London Scottish to the Kassam and everyone’s already really looking forward to it.”
