LONDON Welsh head coach Justin Burnell says the poor display against London Scottish is no reason to cancel his players’ Christmas break.
Unlike many of their rivals, who are playing on Boxing Day or this Saturday, Welsh are not in Greene King IPA Championship action again until their trip to Jersey on January 4.
This means the players will have a few days off to recuperate over the festive period.
And although some coaches, particularly in football, look to punish bad performances with extra training, that is not Burnell’s policy.
“At the end of the day, the programme is there and the players have got to rest,” he said.
“I don’t think that bringing the guys in and hammering them because they have lost a game is going to solve the problems.
“You can’t just bring them in from a rest period and then flog them.”
