A LATE goal from Paige Stewart cruelly condemned Oxford United to a third successive defeat at home to Yeovil Town in the FA Women’s Super League 2 today, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

The U’s dominated for large spells, but paid the penalty for wasting chances as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road ground.

Lauren Allison had two golden chances as the home side controlled the first half.

The U’s player firstly shot across the face of goal after latching onto Natasha Caswell’s delightful chip, before then powering another effort just over.

Jemma Connor-Iommi went close for United after the break, but the missed chances were to prove costly as Yeovil won it eight minutes from time when Stewart headed in Laura Bray’s cross.
