MIKE Stevens, from Abingdon, has been appointed chief executive of London Welsh RFC.
Stevens, who is the event services director of Sportsworld, part of TUI Travel PLC based in Wimbledon, takes up his position with the Exiles on May 12.
In the past, he was commercial manager at Leicester Tigers for seven years and also ticketing manager for the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games organising committee.
London Welsh chairman Bleddyn Phillips said: “We are delighted to confirm Mike’s appointment and welcome him to London Welsh.
“Mike has the necessary commercial experience, expertise and acumen to help take the club forward as we look to cement our position at the top flight of English club rugby.”
Stevens, a former player with Abingdon Vale Cricket Club, said: “London Welsh is a world-wide recognised rugby brand with a fantastic history and I’m delighted to be joining at what is a very exciting time, with the club pushing for promotion to the Premiership.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
