  • "Not fair to judge GW on last season; too many issues with the club/squad prior to his arrival. I will judge GW this season.
GW obviously sees ability in Hunt and Newey that didn't eventuate in the match performances in the last third of the season however they were a major part of the well performing defence for the first 30 games or so. They were out of form but that doesn't make them terrible players though. GW believes he can get them playing again so that's good enough for me. Again, I will keep an open mind and judge them next season. GW has put faith in these two players as he realises that if they don't perform then he isn't performing as a manager.
Transfers....well there hasn't been any yet and nor would I expect any yet either. Again, we need to show patience and seeing as the last season is still a close memory its early days on that front. Again, give GW a fair crack at this job; he needs your support and all the other posters too."

Newey signs new Oxford United contract

Herald Series: Tom Newey Tom Newey

TOM Newey has put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep the defender at Oxford United next season.

The 31-year-old was out of contract this summer, but was offered terms earlier this month.

After considering his options, the left back has agreed to the new 12-month deal.

Newey signed last summer after being released by Scunthorpe United, making 47 appearances as the U's finished eighth in Sky Bet League Two.
