Gary Rowett, who yesterday became Birmingham City’s new manager, was once on Oxford United’s radar, according to a statement issued by Burton Albion.
The 40-year-old has left Burton with the Brewers third in Sky Bet League Two.
The statement said: “The success of Burton Albion over the last three years has seen interest in Gary from Notts County, Oxford, Blackpool and now Birmingham.”
Meanwhile, chief scout Malcolm Crosby, the former Oxford United caretaker manager, has left Blues.
