MICKY Adams is certain Tranmere Rovers will deliver a better performance in the FA Cup tomorrow compared to their previous visit to the Kassam Stadium.

Oxford United won 2-0 when the sides met in Sky Bet League Two seven weeks ago.

Adams, who took over the reins earlier in the week, was watching from the stands.

In the eight games since, Rovers have lost just twice and the former Brighton and Leicester boss has been pleased with the progress.

  • Latest United news:

He said: “That was my first view of Tranmere as a team and it was a disappointing performance.

“It’s never easy for players when the manager has just been sacked.

“But I think we have improved since that day will give a better account of ourselves than we did in October.

“I certainly feel the is more about us. I feel as though we understand our roles and responsibilities.

“I hope we can go and get a positive result.”

Adams believes he and opposite number Michael Appleton are in a similar situation as they attempt to put their stamp on new clubs with inherited squads.

He said: “We all have fantastic ideas about how we want the game to be played, but if you have not got the personnel to do it, then it becomes difficult.

“Michael and his staff have been slightly frustrated with what they have produced.

“We know on the day they are a decent side, but it is not a game we should be fearful of.

“If we perform as we are capable of doing, we can get a positive result.”
