Didcot's Town's Division 1 South & West play-off ambitions in the Evo-Stik Southern League were dealt a big blow as they slumped to a 4-2 defeat at Yate on Saturday.

The Railwaymen never recovered after going 3-0 down in the first 43 minutes.

The hosts took the lead after 22 minutes when when Nuno Felix fired past Didcot keeper Kieran Beesley.

Yate doubled the lead after a mistake from Beesley, with Jordan Rodgers capitalising on the error to score.

Didcot’s first half misery was compounded by conceding a soft penalty when Rodgers fell under a challenge from Matt Woodley, Rodgers making it 3-0 from the spot.

Seconds before the break, Didcot grabbed a lifeline as Luke Carnell headed in.

Yate dashed hopes of a comeback in the 50th minute when Jake Jackson fired past Beesley from a quick break.

In the 87th minute, Jimmy Deabill scored for the visitors, who are now six points off a play-off spot.
