SIMON WEBSTER is sure he is will not end up like a fish out of water when he dons Scotland's No.13 jersey against Romania at Murrayfield tomorrow.

The 26-year-old Edinburgh star has played most of his adult rugby on the wing, but during the last two seasons Frank Hadden has frequently moved him to outside centre during the latter stages of matches.

Now the Scotland coach believes 25-times capped Webster is ready to start a game in what has become something of a problem position for the national team.

Webster said: "I've played quite a bit at 13 before so it is not too much of a big deal for me. I played centre for Scotland at under-19 and under-21 level, so it's not that different to what I've done in the past.

"I don't think I've ever started a game for Edinburgh in the centre, but I've had the odd spell there.

"It was a slight surprise to be picked there but, having said that, I have played just under three halves at centre in the three games we have played so far.

"All the training we have done has been specific to the team and the biggest thing I have had to get my head around is the patterns we want to play.

"But we have been together as a squad now for four months so if I don't know it by now then there is something wrong.

"Alan Tait (the former Scotland centre and current defensive coach) has been brilliant and the players in the squad have all been really helpful.

"Even though it's not a huge difference to the stuff I have been used to in the past, it is still very valuable having guys like that around me. The other centres in the squad have been helpful too."
