IT wasn’t just Oxford United’s travelling fans who were blown away by the side’s 4-0 thrashing of Brentford in the Capital One Cup.
Even Alan McCormack, who made almost 100 appearances for Swindon Town, admitted the scoreline did not flatter the visitors.
The midfielder who came off the bench for the Bees in the second half, told the club’s website: “They deserved every bit they got out of the game.
“We didn’t have any heart, someone to put a foot in, make a tackle, up the tempo.
“When you’re the underdog, with nothing to lose, you give everything you’ve got because you never know what will happen and (this) is a prime example of if you don’t give 100 per cent, you’ll get punished.”
Bees boss Marinus Dijkhuizen added: “It was awful, an embarrassing performance from my team, after 12 minutes it’s game over.
“I think there was no organisation, no leadership in the team.
“They started good with a lot of energy and every shot on the goal (went in) and after 12 minutes it’s very difficult game from then on.
“I was angry of course because they were not good in the game, a mental thing, not competing with Oxford.”
